How Can We Help?
Door Closer Installation Video
The video below will show you how to fit a door closer to a Latham’s steel door.
A door closer can be installed on either the pull or push side of the door. To fit on the push side, attach the supplied sticker template to the underside of the frame and the door leaf when the door is closed. This will ensure the bottom edge of the door closer is level with the bottom edge of your frame, and the closer fixings are aligned two
inches from the hinge side of the door.
Drill through the indicated points and attach both sections of the door closer with the screws provided. Place the arm on the door closer, setting
it 1 notch from the perpendicular to the door. The arm should aim away from the hinge side. Fix the arm in place by using the washers and screws provided, adjusting the arm length if necessary.
Regardless of which side it is positioned on, the closing and latching speed of your door closer can be adjusted. Turning the second screw anti-clockwise increases the closing speed as the door rotates from 170 to 20 degrees. Turning the first screw anti-clockwise increases the latching speed adjusting how fast the door shuts in the last 20 degrees to make it latch. Turning either screw clockwise will decrease these speeds.
Finally, clip the closer cover in place, protecting the mechanism and providing a smooth finish. You can follow the same procedure to install
a door closer on the pull side of a door, but this should be positioned as shown.
