Multi Point Troubleshooting

If you experience any difficulty with your multi-point door, here are some simple checks you can do to rectify the issue.

Firstly, check that the centre sash lock is functioning correctly. Remove the two handle screws, two cylinder cover screws and single cylinder screw to take these parts off the door. Unscrew the 4 screws in the corners to remove the sash lock

The sash lock has two hooks, one top and one bottom, which slot into eyes in the internal rod. The bottom hook should be parallel with the top hook. If it isn’t, using pliers, gently pull the hook back into position and refit the sash lock into the door, ensuring the hooks go through the eyes in the rods when being refitted.

You can also check the side locks, which are the 2 sets of shoot bolts above and below the main sash lock. Unscrew the top and bottom screws to remove the lock and ensure the hook element of the shoot bolt is located in the eye of the rod and is the correct way round.

Another option is to check that the cylinder is working correctly. Remove the cylinder following the steps mentioned previously and test the cylinder out of the door. The key should turn the cam in the cylinder smoothly and without force

A further check is to ensure the bottom shoot bolts can extend freely from the door leaf and into the door frame when closed.
