How Can We Help?
Infill Panel Installation Video
If our stock door size isn’t perfectly suited to your opening, we suggest you purchase an infill panel to bridge the gap.
Side panels are supplied in precise lengths to fit our standard-height doors. If side and overhead panels are both fitted, the side panels will need to be trimmed down to sit flush underneath. Overhead panels are supplied in standard sizes and will require cutting down prior to installation. Take appropriate safety precautions before beginning installation. Consider your surroundings and wear PPE if required. Our security doors are heavy, and we recommend a minimum of 2 people to install them, so if possible, please ensure you have another pair of hands available to help.
To fit the side panels, measure the full width and height of your door opening, including the gap beyond the frame. If fitting with an overhead panel, you will need to trim the side panels down by 25mm each to ensure they sit flush. Side panel fixing points match the fitting holes on the door frame. Ensure the excess is removed from the top, otherwise the panel will not align correctly. Smooth off any sharp edges or burrs with a file.
At this stage, you can add insulation to the panel to enhance the thermal and acoustic performance. Attach the wind-out lugs to the door frame, ready for the side panels to fit over. Slide the side panels onto the sides of the doorframe and firmly push them onto the frame so they fully clip in.
The side panels are now an extension of the frame, and you should ensure they sit flush to the bottom of the frame. Place the doorframe and panels into the opening and see if the added width is enough to bridge the gap. If not, you can use the wind-out lugs between the doorframe and panel to increase the overall width. We offer 2 different options for our expanding frames, allowing for a maximum bridge of up to 90mm.
Next, if applicable, you can fit the overhead panel. Measure the total width of the door opening and cut the overhead panel down to the correct size, smoothing off any sharp edges or burrs with a file. Slide the panel onto the top of the doorframe and firmly push down so it clips on fully. Place the doorframe and overpanel into the opening and see if the added height is enough to bridge the gap. If not, you can add packing between the doorframe and the overhead panel to increase the overall height to a maximum of 20mm. To create a seal, run a line of silicone down either side of the frame where the lips clip over.
For further security and rigidity, you can also fix the panel and frame together using pop rivets or self-tapping screws but this isn’t a necessity.
Our ‘security trim kit’ is recommended with all security installations to protect the fixings from attack, but also as a quick and easy way to finish your door.
