How to Repair Powder Coated Finishes

Over time, the powder coating on your steel door may develop scuffs or scratches through general wear and tear. If that’s the case for your door, we stock powder coating touch-up pens to refinish any damage.

Using the RAL or BS code from the original powder coating, you can select the matching colour for your pen. As the paint is a liquid and will dry out over time, your pen will be supplied with the solvent and the coloured powder separately, ready for you to mix together.

To use the pen, remove the plastic pot on the top containing the powder and put it to one side. Unscrew the top of the pen, inside you will find the integrated brush, and the solvent in the barrel of the pen. Take the lid off the powder pot, and pour this into the pen. Using the brush, mix the powder with the solvent. Then, screw the top back onto the barrel of the pen and shake vigorously for 1 minute.

Once the paint solution is ready, use the brush to apply it to the affected area of your door. Leave for a minimum of 40 minutes to become touch-dry. We recommend 8 to 12 hours to dry fully.
